Is It Giving Up or Finding Myself?
Why Starting Over is Sometimes the Best Choice
Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try, things just aren’t working out? Like you’re stuck in a loop, waiting for something to change—but nothing does?
For the longest time, I told myself that moving away meant I was giving up. That I just needed to try harder, push through, and eventually, everything would fall into place.
But what if starting over isn’t giving up?
What if it’s actually the best thing I could do for myself?
The Moment I Realized I Needed a Change
There wasn’t one huge, dramatic moment where I knew I had to leave—it was a series of small, soul-crushing realizations.
💼 Job hunting felt endless. I’d pour hours into applications—and still, rejection emails flooded my inbox.
💰 The cost of living is suffocating. Rent, groceries, gas—everything is getting more expensive while my paycheck stayed the same.
😞 Socializing feels like a chore. I put myself out there, joined groups, attended events—but I still feel disconnected, like I don’t belong.
And then one day Ithought:
👉 What if I’m not failing? What if I’m just in the wrong place?
Starting Over: A Leap of Faith or a Smart Decision?
For so long, I believed in the Cinderella story—work hard, be kind, find love, and everything will magically fall into place.
But real life isn’t a fairytale.
Instead of waiting for happiness to find me, I decided to chase it. I started asking myself:
- What do I really want from life?
- What would make me feel alive again?
- If I could start fresh anywhere, where would it be?
And then the answer became clear: I needed to leave.
Facing the Fear of the Unknown
Making the decision to move wasn’t easy. Doubts crept in:
What if I fail?
What if I regret leaving?
What if I’m just running away from my problems?
But then I realized—what if I never take the chance?
I’d rather take the risk than wake up five years from now, stuck in the same place, wondering what if?
Practical Steps If You’re Feeling Stuck
If you’re in a similar place, questioning everything, here are a few things that helped me:
Write it all down. Journaling my feelings, fears, and goals gave me clarity.
Research new opportunities. Whether it’s a new city, career path, or lifestyle—gather all the information you can.
Start small. You don’t have to uproot your life overnight. Try a short trip, test out remote work, or explore new communities online.
Trust yourself. The fear won’t go away, but if something in your gut says go, listen to it.
This Isn’t Just About Moving—It’s About Freedom
This journey isn’t about chasing a man, a career, or some perfect version of myself.
It’s about:
🌿 Reconnecting with nature and my roots
💡 Rediscovering my passions
🌍 Exploring the world on my own terms
I am not lost. I am arriving.
